Johnny Depp AI thriller Transcendence grossed $10.65m on its opening weekend in China, placing the film third at the weekly box office (April 14-20) behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Rio 2.

Rio 2 wins international weekend

UPDATE: The weekend box office race turned on its head on Monday (21) as Fox International executives confirmed Rio 2 grossed $47.1m from 65 markets compared to $46.1m for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 from 14 Sony markets.
